This is a great opportunity for those who like the BIG gear and want to work with CAT trained Technicians supporting our Mt Isa Service Centre. This is a hands-on position and you’ll play a key role in coordinating, maintaining, and controlling specialised workshop tooling and equipment. This is a Permanent, Monday to Friday position.

What you’ll be doing
As a Tool Storeperson at Hastings Deering, you will:

  • Manage tool issue and returns – issue, receive and accurately track tools and equipment for workshop and field personnel to ensure availability and accountability.
  • Maintain tooling records – keep accurate tool registers, inventory records and supporting documentation to meet operational and audit requirements.
  • Conduct stocktakes and audits – perform regular stocktakes and audits of tools and equipment to ensure accuracy, compliance and loss prevention.
  • Coordinate servicing and calibration – organise tool servicing, calibration and repairs to maintain equipment reliability and compliance.
  • Ensure safe tooling storage – store tools correctly and ensure all equipment complies with Workplace Health and Safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain tool store presentation – uphold high standards of cleanliness, organisation and efficiency within the tool store.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders – liaise with workshop teams, supervisors and suppliers to support smooth workshop operations.

What you’ll need:  

A successful teammate will have experience in: 

  • Bring relevant store or workshop experience – demonstrated experience in a tool store, warehouse or stores environment, ideally within mining or heavy equipment operations.
  • Stay organised and manage time effectively – strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks in a busy workshop environment.
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail – high attention to detail with proven ability to keep records accurate and up to date.
  • Use systems confidently – basic computer skills with experience using inventory or stores management systems for accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Show initiative and reliability – a proactive, dependable work ethic with the ability to work autonomously when required.
  • Hold required licences – current driver’s licence, with a forklift licence highly regarded.
