Our reverse vending technology enables the collection of used drink containers to ensure that containers have the best chance of being turned back into containers again. It is part of a continuous recycling process which we call Clean Loop Recycling, to ensure that fewer resources are used, less energy is wasted, and containers do not end up in our oceans, streets, or landfill. We’re proud to be collecting containers across Australia, with over 320 collection points across NSW. In addition, we have state-of-the-art Recycling Centres in Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

Job Description

TOMRA Collection Australia are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to take on the role of Vice President- Business Development, driving and scaling our commercial growth across the Australian market.

Working in close partnership with the SVP Business Development and Strategy, and collaborating with State General Managers, this role is pivotal in shaping and executing high-impact initiatives and strategic partnerships.

As VP Business Development, you will lead a team of Portfolio Account Managers, ensuring delivery of key account outcomes while identifying new opportunities that fuel long-term success.

Some other duties you may perform (Not limited to):

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the business development team, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, markets, and partnerships to drive growth and expand the TOMRA's market presence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve and support revenue growth, including expansion into new territories, strengthening existing revenue streams and realising associated opportunities, and evaluating and developing parallel opportunities.
  • Conduct market analysis and build competitive intelligence to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with business development activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with government agencies, non-profits, and private sector organizations to enhance TOMRA's leadership in container deposit schemes and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align business development efforts with broader organisational goals.
  • Oversee the management of key accounts, ensuring strong relationships and high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and implement strategies to optimise value delivery.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and contract renewals with strategic partners.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Portfolio Account Managers.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.
  • Work closely with SVP Business Development and Strategy and other senior leaders to shape and execute regional growth strategies.
  • Represent the business in external forums, industry events, and client engagements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Marketing, Operations, and Finance to support business development initiatives.

Qualifications

What makes a great VP- Business Development at TOMRA:

  • Proven experience in business development, account management, or commercial leadership roles
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing teams
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Commercial experience in partnership development, venture capital or FMCG sectors will be highly valued, as will evidence of an entrepreneurial mindset and background
  • Interest in the circular economy and environmental sustainability is also highly desirable
