About the role
Sydney Airport plays a critical role in connecting people, places and experiences. How passengers and visitors navigate our terminals, precincts and digital channels is central to safety, operational efficiency and overall experience.
This is a 12 Month Max-term Contract opportunity to join us as a Wayfinding Manager, Passenger Experience & Service Delivery. In this role, you will be accountable for the strategic direction and end‑to‑end delivery of Sydney Airport’s wayfinding ecosystem. This is a hands‑on role operating in a live, complex environment, balancing strategy, governance and technical design authority with practical delivery across physical and digital wayfinding solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Own and evolve the airport‑wide wayfinding strategy, standards and governance across terminals, precincts and digital channels.
- Deliver multiple concurrent wayfinding projects end‑to‑end, from brief through to installation, commissioning and operational handover, with minimal disruption to operations.
- Act as the technical design authority for wayfinding, including sign schedules, design packs, accessibility, visibility, legibility and compliance with brand and safety requirements.
- Use passenger insights, data and feedback to monitor performance, conduct audits and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead the evolution of digital wayfinding in partnership with Technology, ensuring alignment between physical signage, content logic and passenger behaviour.
- Influence and collaborate with a wide range of internal stakeholders and external partners, including designers, fabricators, installers and operational teams.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Design, UX, Industrial Design, Urban Design, Architecture, Transport Planning, Human Factors or a related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience delivering end‑to‑end wayfinding or customer‑journey solutions in complex public environments such as airports, transport hubs or major venues.
- Strong project delivery capability, including budgeting, procurement, vendor management, risk and schedule control in live operational environments.
- Proven experience working across physical and digital wayfinding systems, ideally including mobile, digital signage or passenger information platforms.
- Deep understanding of user‑centred design, accessibility and universal design principles, with the ability to assess and approve technical design packages.
- Confident stakeholder manager who can influence across operations, technology, commercial and corporate functions.
