As our next Web Engineer, you’ll work closely with a team of dedicated engineers and designers to build a world-class web experience. This is a highly visible team with significant impact as your work will be seen by thousands and is crucial to the success of Dovetail.

What you’ll do

As an engineer focused on enabling our metrics-focused and data-driven organization, you will:

  • Work with our web team. Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule. Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and improve team performance. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to front-end development, SEO, accessibility, and performance optimization.
  • Write quality code. Develop and maintain a marketing website using Contentful, React18 and Gatsby, ensuring high-quality code, functionality, and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues and bugs, ensuring a smooth user experience across different devices and browsers. Implement SEO best practices, including structured data markup, meta tags, and optimized page load times.
  • Partner with a designer. Collaborate with the marketing, sales, customer success and product teams to ensure the web team prioritizes work effectively, capturing all requirements and translating those requirements into technical specifications.

What you’ll bring

  • You are pragmatic and flexible. You’re used to doing what’s necessary to get the job done. You’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, be resourceful to solve problems and be able to adjust to shifting deadlines and project goals.
  • Excellent, concise communicator. You can easily convey your thoughts, opinions, and feelings with your team and have the ability to articulate effort vs impact tradeoffs.
  • You have solid web experience. Ideally, you’ll have working proficiency in Gatsby and TypeScript and some experience across our tech stack with:
    • Proven experience as a front-end developer, preferably with React, Contentful and Gatsby.
    • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related front-end technologies.
    • Familiarity with SEO best practices and experience optimizing websites for search engines.
    • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience implementing accessibility features.
    • Proficiency in performance optimization techniques to ensure fast-loading and responsive websites.
    • Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
