Assembly Label is looking for a Design Assistant to join our Design team at our Alexandria Head Office. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career creative to gain hands-on experience supporting the design process and contributing to the development of our collections within a growing, multi-channel fashion brand.

The Role

The primary purpose of the Design Assistant is to support the Design team with the day-to-day tasks involved in developing and delivering Assembly Label’s product collections.

Key Responsibilities 

Admin

  • General design department administration and data entry. Master data and style workflow maintenance in theseasonal dashboards and visual range plans.
  • Support the Design team in creating tech packs and inputting key style data.
  • Assist with incoming sample co-ordination and documentation.
  • Ensure the Design Room is kept organised and maintained at a high standard, including organisation of samples,fabrics, trims and digital files.





Design

  • Creating and updating detailed CADs to represent the seasonal collections.​
  • Creating and managing range presentation documents, ensuring a high level of detail and accuracy.​
  • Trend and competitor research, including silhouette, colour and fabrication.​
  • Inform key stakeholders across the wider business of changes regarding product attributes and range structure.​
  • Working closely with the Design team on executing showroom set up each season for various range meetings and reviews, ensuring all materials, samples and assets are available to showcase.​
  • Responsible for taking meeting notes, compiling action points and following them through.​
  • Accountable for upholding the Assembly Label culture – a spokesperson for the brand, both internally and externally.​
  • Responsible for working with the Senior Designer on your own self-development and career growth.​

About You

  • 2+ years’ industry experience in fashion design or a related field.
  • Fashion Design or relevant technical qualification.
  • Knowledge of fabrics, colour, and digital artwork.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, with strong Illustrator and Excel skills.
  • Understanding of garment fit, construction, and technical design principles.
  • Collaborative team player who values teamwork and builds strong working relationships.
  • Ability to support the execution and delivery of ranges in line with Assembly Label’s brand DNA.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Embodies Assembly Label’s values of being Humble, Hungry and Smart.
