Dscout Company Culture & Values

Dscout Employee Perspectives

How would you describe your company’s approach to remote-first work? What have been the greatest successes thus far and what obstacles have you overcome in building a remote team?

At Dscout, remote-first is not a perk; it is simply how we work and it works well. Since joining in July 2023, I have built strong relationships with teammates across the country because flexibility and trust are truly part of our culture. We collaborate smoothly across time zones without losing momentum or connection.

On a personal level, the structure helps me create a healthier rhythm with more time for family and friends, the space to do deep work when I do my best thinking and even the occasional post-work lake swim in New Hampshire (which is quickly becoming a summertime hobby of mine!) Remote-first at Dscout gives me the grounding of a strong team and the freedom to build a work life that actually fits my life outside of work.

How does your team stay connected in a remote-first office? Are there specific tools you rely on to communicate and collaborate together?

Slack is our digital home base. It’s where we plan, brainstorm, check in and occasionally share the perfect GIF at the perfect moment. The mix of async communication and lightweight, intentional touchpoints helps us stay aligned without feeling glued to our screens.

And even though we’re remote-first, we’re not remote-only. I’ve been able to travel for work and build in-person connections in ways I didn’t expect, from visiting customers in Minneapolis, Seattle and London, as well as Los Angeles, where I shot a customer video in their studio (and visited Los Angeles for the first time!). Those moments of in-person collaboration add a layer of closeness that rounds out the day-to-day digital connection.

How does your company build culture in a remote-first office? What specific rituals or initiatives does your team use to create a more inclusive, engaged environment?

Culture at Dscout shows up in small rituals and big company moments. One of my favorites is Tuesday Tea, where a teammate shares a personal passion like sailing, yoga or plant propagation. It is a clear reflection of who we are as a company: curious, thoughtful and a little quirky in the most endearing way.

On the larger side, we have Midpoint, our summer all-company gathering and Sales Kickoff, which brings our go-to-market teams together in Chicago. These moments create real connections and help anchor our remote culture. Even though most of us work in different places, we still find meaningful ways to show up for each other and that makes the day-to-day feel just as connected as when I used to work in an office every day.

Describe the Dscout company culture in one word.

Our company culture is rooted in empathy. We are a team of passionate individuals who care deeply about our people, product and customers. Our empathetic nature means we understand and prioritize our employees and customers’ needs, which drives us to continually explore and innovate in all aspects. Empathy is at the heart of our daily work and mission. It drives us in our mission to help companies better understand the experiences people have with their products and brands in everyday life.

‘Empathy’ as a guiding force sounds like it makes for a great employee experience. Does an example of it in the day-to-day come to mind?

A great example of empathy at Dscout is our employee benefits. Our benefits reflect deep care for the livelihood and well-being of our employees. To support continuous learning and professional development, we provide an annual education stipend.

Our flexible PTO policy allows employees to balance work and personal life, encouraging us to take the time we need. Recognizing the importance of mental well-being, we provide robust mental health benefits and support. Our competitive insurance package provides comprehensive health coverage at very low cost to our employees. These are a few examples of the many perks designed to enhance the overall work experience, making Dscout a great place to be.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

I’ve been with Dscout for two and a half years now, and during this time I have grown tremendously. I initially joined Dscout with a background in technical recruitment but a desire to learn and expand into recruiting for other business areas.

During my time here, I’ve now had the opportunity to hire for diverse roles across all internal teams at Dscout, which has been incredibly rewarding.

In addition to broadening my recruitment scope, I’ve had the privilege to support and contribute to larger people team projects and strategies. I’m very proud to be a member of our Inclusion Committee, where I contribute to and support our DEI initiatives such as our learning communities. Being a part of the Inclusion Committee has allowed me to grow significantly, both professionally and personally. Dscout's empathetic and dynamic environment has truly enabled me to thrive and grow.

Describe Dscout’s company culture in one word. What made you pick that word?

I would choose “caring” because it reflects the empathy, strong connections and desire to show up for each other every day that define the Dscout EMEA team. Our culture is built around supporting each other so that we succeed together.

This caring spirit was evident when two of my teammates, Tymmarah Anderson and Abby Raynor, were recognized for an internal company value award. They consistently go above and beyond in finding solutions to problems and in supporting colleagues. They do this not because they feel they have to, but because they genuinely want to.

The EMEA team’s success in 2024 is a testament to this caring culture. A strong partnership between sales and operations ensured customers were set up for success during every interaction with Dscout, from prospecting and evaluation to onboarding and long-term platform engagement.

At Dscout, caring deeply is more than a value — it’s how we collaborate, lift each other up and thrive as a team. Caring deeply helps to keep us motivated, with a purpose, and ready to tackle 2025, together.

How long have you been with Dscout, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

I joined Dscout in January 2023 and have had the privilege of working across multiple areas of the business, from participant acquisition to collaborating with new and prospective customers, supporting existing business and contributing to strategic planning for EMEA growth.

This broad exposure has sharpened my leadership skills, refined my ability to collaborate cross-functionally, and given me a holistic understanding of how different parts of the business work together to drive success. Each new challenge and opportunity has pushed me to grow, not just as a leader but also as a strategic thinker.

In January 2025, I was honored to be promoted to General Manager - EMEA, a testament to Dscout’s commitment to nurturing talent and creating an environment where individuals can thrive and take on new responsibilities. One of my primary responsibilities is overseeing the growth of a new international location as we expand our operational reach into other parts of the world. This new chapter of my journey at Dscout highlights the organization’s belief in empowering its people to take on impactful roles and continually grow both personally and professionally.
