Leads human factors and ergonomics engineering across the lifecycle of complex rail infrastructure projects. Defines HFE requirements, conducts task and workload analyses, evaluates usability and human error, supports system architecture and safety assurance, and develops compliance and verification evidence. Collaborates with engineers, operators, maintainers, and stakeholders to integrate human-centered, accessible, safe, and maintainable designs. Provides technical leadership, mentoring, and support for testing, commissioning, and operational readiness.

Leads HSE performance across New South Wales and New Zealand rail and infrastructure operations. Responsibilities include developing HSE strategies for major bids and tenders, supporting contractor prequalification, maintaining Federal Safety Commissioner accreditation, ensuring legal and contractual compliance, embedding High Reliability principles, and advising senior leaders, clients, engineering, construction, and commercial teams.

Provides remote, on-call, shift-based, and onsite technical support for railway communications and control systems. Responsibilities include monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, upgrades, testing, commissioning, documentation, incident management, and SLA-based service restoration. The engineer coordinates with Metro Trains Sydney, internal teams, and suppliers while supporting operational rail systems, planned maintenance, and out-of-hours activities.
