What's the Company Culture Like at MetLife?

MetLife Employee Perspectives

Collaboration is also important here at MetLife. We work in an agile way, so there’s constant communication: Think standups, quick syncs and problem-solving together. Everyone is moving in the same direction, and the team culture is super positive. People say, “We’ve got your back,” and they really mean it.

MetLife has a family-first culture which leads to genuine care and work-life balance for employees. To have unwavering support, especially during moments in life that are out of your control, makes you want to always give your best at work.

I really appreciate how achievements are celebrated here, however big or small they are. It motivates me to see my work being rewarded or appreciated by leadership and my colleagues.

Neha Gambhir, Full-Stack Software Engineer

We’re there for each other to balance work and life and deliver on our promises to our customers as one team. MetLife is a special place in that way. We have this saying here, that it’s ‘All Together Possible.’ I see and feel that every day.

From day one, I felt encouraged to explore, speak up, and take ownership of my path. MIM is a large organization, but it doesn’t feel rigid. There's room to move, grow, and find your niche. Knowing that I wasn’t locked into one business unit gave me comfort. If I didn’t fall in love with where I started, there were other areas to explore, as long as I worked hard.

I would say the greatest benefit of working on the development team here is being on a diverse team with members from very different geographic locations, ethnic backgrounds and technical backgrounds. You really can learn a lot from those different perspectives.

I value the overall company culture. At MetLife, we care for each other and work hard to uplift one another every single day. An example of where I personally experience this outside of my day-to-day role, is through our Buddy Program where mentors are aligned to new hires that recently joined the team. As a mentor, I meet with my new hire mentees once a week for 16-weeks to provide support and answer any questions that they have.
