The 2027 Payments Settlements Graduate Program with the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is a two-year program that provides comprehensive training and development designed to progress your career.

Our Graduates contribute to the RBA’s management and operation of critical financial infrastructure for the Australian economy.

About the role

We are seeking a graduate to join us in a Risk and Compliance role, supporting the Payments Settlements (PS) team to uplift our risk culture and progressively mature our risk management practices.

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager Line 1 Risk & Compliance, this role will support the PS team to deliver our business objectives whilst effectively managing our material risks, also ensuring that we stay ahead in an ever-evolving risk landscape.

As a graduate you will:

  • Contribute to the team’s work in coaching department team members to own or drive our risk agenda.

  • Help department members to identify and assess risks to support the achievement of business objectives.

  • Aid the team in coaching and advising on the development of controls to mitigate material risk exposures.

  • Support proactive consideration of the risk and control implications of change activities to drive timely and cost-effective incorporation of future controls.

  • Provide risk advice in the assessment, root cause analysis and remediation of operational risk incidents.

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the department's risk management practices, highlight gaps and escalate as required.

  • Support the department’s implementation of the RBA’s risk and compliance management framework.

  • Complete a structured training program alongside graduates across the Bank, while gaining dedicated Payments Settlements training and development.

Selection Criteria:

  • Interest in supporting a business to strengthen risk culture and risk management practices.

  • Interest in exploring a Line 1 or Line 2 operational risk and compliance role within Financial Services.

  • Value an understanding and an opportunity to work with a business to practically apply risk and compliance management frameworks, policies and standards. 

  • Recent or current completion of a commerce, business administration, legal, compliance or analytics type of degree with high academic achievement.

  • First interviews will be conducted virtually

  • The second and final interviews will be held at 8 Chifley Square, Sydney in either late June or early July.
