Reserve Bank of Australia
2027 RBA Payments Settlements Graduate Program - Strategy & Analysis Specialisation
The 2027 Payments Settlements Graduate Program with the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is a two-year program that provides comprehensive training and development designed to kickstart your career.
As a graduate in our Strategy & Analysis team, you will directly contribute to the ongoing development, improvement and future direction of RITS Australia’s high-value payments settlement system. Supporting this critical national infrastructure, our team supports the safe and efficient flow of money through the financial system and helps maintain confidence in Australia’s payments and financial system.
The payments landscape is changing rapidly - shaped by emerging technologies, evolving industry needs for real-time payments, regulatory change and global developments. The RBA needs to evolve with that change and ensure its settlement infrastructure remains secure, resilient, efficient and fit for the future.
In this role, you will analyse data and insights, stay informed on industry developments, and apply this knowledge to support business decisions, operational policy, system design, and strategic planning. You will collaborate with a diverse range of people and teams across the RBA, including technical, operational, policy, strategy, business delivery, and corporate teams. You will also work with external stakeholders and partners to support the RBA’s broader policy objectives. This will involve understanding complex technical and operational information, drawing out key insights, making recommendations and communicating them clearly for different audiences, including senior stakeholders.
This is an opportunity to contribute to work that is both practical and forward-looking — helping solve current business and operational challenges while supporting the future strategic direction of Australia’s settlement infrastructure.
Start your RBA career in Payments Settlements and you will:
Step into the fast-paced global payments industry, and become a payments expert along the way.
Gain unique insights into how the RBA, and central banks more generally, achieve some of their policy objectives through the operation of this critical infrastructure.
Work with other areas of the RBA on a diverse range of matters including payments innovation and regulation, operational policy, liquidity facilities, financial stability and technology.
Collaborate with payments industry stakeholders to improve the efficiency and resilience of payment operations.
Help the RBA ensure that RITS meets evolving international standards for financial market infrastructures and collaborate with international counterparts on how to do this.
Research and analyse payment trends and industry developments that help shape the future of RBA’s settlement services.
Support the design and implementation of new and improved settlement services, technologies, processes and operational arrangements.
Join the RBA Graduate Program and complete a structured training program alongside graduates across the Bank, while gaining dedicated Payments Settlements training and development.
