The Role:

This isn't a traditional sales role. This Account Manager role a strategic commercial position where you'll combine deep acquiring expertise with relationship management, commercial thinking and market insight to help drive growth across one of Australia's most important payment networks.

If you've built your career in merchant acquiring and enjoy working with banks, payment providers and strategic customers, this is an opportunity to influence the future of payments in Australia.

We're looking for an experienced Account Manager to join our Acquiring team and take ownership of strategic acquiring relationships across the Australian payments ecosystem. You'll work with major acquirers and payment partners to grow adoption of eftpos capabilities, shape commercial outcomes and help deliver the next generation of payment solutions.

If you've worked in acquiring particularly within a major Australian bank or leading payments organisation you'll understand the complexity of the ecosystem and the opportunity to influence it.

This role is responsible for:  

  • Own and grow strategic relationships with acquiring partners across the Australian payments ecosystem.
  • Identify commercial opportunities that increase transaction volumes, customer value and long-term revenue growth.
  • Partner with customers to understand their acquiring strategies and align eftpos products and capabilities to their future needs.
  • Lead commercial discussions including proposals, pricing, business cases and contract negotiations.
  • Execute the eftpos acquiring product and innovation roadmap with key customers.
  • Analyse acquiring performance, transaction trends and market insights to identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across banks, acquirers, processors and payment providers.
  • Develop commercial recommendations that balance customer outcomes with strategic business objectives.
  • Monitor commercial performance and deliver insights that support continued growth across the portfolio.

In order to be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate:

You'll already understand how merchant acquiring works and know the commercial drivers that matter to acquiring organisations. You're comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, can identify growth opportunities from customer data and enjoy solving commercial challenges in a complex payments environment.

You'll bring:

  • 3-5+ years' experience working within merchant acquiring (essential).
  • Experience managing strategic commercial or account relationships within the payments industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian acquiring landscape, including merchants, acquirers, schemes, processors and payment technology providers.
  • Card Present (CP) and Card Not Present (CNP) acquiring experience is highly regarded.
  • A proven ability to grow customer relationships and deliver commercial outcomes.
  • Experience developing commercial proposals, pricing models and business cases.
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability with the ability to turn market and customer insights into growth opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Highly desirable

  • Experience working within one of Australia's major banks or managing strategic relationships with the Big Four.
  • Experience across eftpos, Visa, Mastercard or broader card payments.
  • Exposure to acquiring strategy, merchant payments, acceptance products or payment innovation.
