The role combines actuarial expertise, modelling capability, model governance and stakeholder management to deliver reliable, fit-for-purpose insights that support decision making and improve outcomes for members.

The role supports the technical needs of the Actuarial Consulting team in ensuring all models are developed, maintained and operated in accordance with the Model Risk Management Standard, including model documentation, testing, validation, controls, monitoring, issue remediation and compliance obligations.

Your New Role 

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead actuarial modelling and analysis for items including: 

  • Lifetime Value of a Member

  • Reserve modelling (including ORFR and Trustee Risk Reserve)

  • Translate complex modelling and analytical outcomes into clear actionable insights for senior executives and key stakeholders.

  • Develop, enhance and maintain robust, scalable and transparent actuarial models using Excel, Python and other analytical tools where appropriate.

  • Ensure modelling methodologies, assumptions, calculations and outputs remain fit for purpose and aligned to business requirements and capable of being supported within the Fund’s analytics and data platforms.

  • Support ad hoc actuarial and other modelling and analysis for senior management and across the Fund in response to unanticipated market events, Federal Budget announcements, policy changes and Strategy reviews. 

  • Performing analyses of the membership in order to identify Fund implications and to generate strategic insights for senior stakeholders to ensure the membership forecast reflects the strategic objectives and targets of the Fund and factors in investment in future membership growth.

  • Proactively escalate delivery risks, issues, control weaknesses and resourcing constraints to management.

     

What You’ll Need   

  • Experience in superannuation, life insurance, wealth management or broader financial services. 

  • Prior experience developing stochastic, projection, forecasting or member behaviour models. 

  • Experience mentoring colleagues and transferring technical knowledge to reduce key person dependency

  • Professional actuarial qualification (FIAA or AIAA).

  • Technically strong in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Excel, Power BI).

  • Demonstrated well developed written and oral communication/ interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas, perspectives clearly and articulately to a wide range of senior stakeholders. 

  • Advanced use of MS Office products, especially Excel and comfortable working with large volumes and multiple sources of data.

  • An ability to operate under a formal Model Risk Management framework.
