What you'd be doing in this role
Every month, more than 100 million Canva users create a design in one of the 100 languages other than English that Canva supports. The localisation specialty is made up of three teams of linguists, project managers, and designers distributed throughout the company with a mission of celebrating the diversity of our growing base of global users and making their Canva experiences delightful.
This mission involves everything from developing a vision for the global user experience, through procuring translation services via agencies, to maintaining localisation infrastructure roadmaps. If you join us, you'll be involved in all stages of the development cycle in world-class product teams.
This role will focus on leveraging AI to drive efficiency in Canva localisation program, starting with a large-scale media localisation project involving dubbing and subtitling education and user onboarding content. You'll bring subject matter expertise and strong organisational skills to this project, collaborating with stakeholders from partner teams and delivering against challenging timelines.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Leading the localisation MVP for Canva's Design School, managing timelines, KPIs, agency partners and stakeholders.
- Applying your expertise in generative AI to improve the quality and speed of dubbing and subtitling, from tool selection through to deployment.
- Collaborating with language experts to safely roll out AI translation capabilities across multimedia formats.
- Supporting training data pipelines, evaluating AI outputs, and contributing to localisation tech strategy.
- Driving best practices and knowledge sharing across Canva's global teams through workshops and documentation.
You're probably a match if
- You have deep knowledge of localisation and AI frameworks like RAG, BLEU, COMET, and MQM.
- You're familiar with post-edited machine translation and know how to deploy localisation tools at scale.
- You've delivered complex programs involving multiple stakeholders and evolving priorities.
- You thrive in ambiguity and bring clarity through structured thinking, excellent documentation and communication.
- You understand the unique needs of LOTE (languages other than English) users, especially in a SaaS context.
- You're comfortable with tech (Atlassian tools, basic web development) and write a mean doc.
- Bonus: you speak multiple languages or have worked vendor-side in localisation!
