About the Role
The AI Solutions Architect is the technical pre-sales partner within each regional AI POD, working alongside an AI Solutions Executive and AI Services Consultant. This role brings hands-on architectural expertise into customer engagements during the pre-sales phase, translating customer business requirements into concrete AI solution designs, reference architectures, and technical proposals that give WWT credibility and differentiation in competitive pursuits.
This is not a delivery or post-sales engineering role. The AI Solutions Architect operates in a revenue-generating context, providing the technical depth enterprise customers require before committing to AI investments. The role demands the ability to whiteboard an end-to-end AI architecture in a customer meeting, coordinate proof-of-concept engagements through WWT's Advanced Technology Center (ATC), and ensure that what is sold can be built, scoped accurately, and transitioned cleanly to delivery teams.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the technical counterpart to the AI Solutions Executive in all customer-facing engagements, providing architectural depth, solution credibility, and technical validation
- Translate customer business problems into AI solution architectures spanning GPU/compute infrastructure, data platforms, AI/ML frameworks, networking for AI, storage, and application layers
- Design and present technical proposals, reference architectures, and proof-of-concept plans; conduct technical discovery sessions to assess environment readiness (space, power, cooling), workload requirements, and integration complexity
- Develop solution-level bills of materials, sizing models, and configuration specifications in coordination with Global Solutions & Architecture teams
- Coordinate ATC lab environments, proof-of-concept plans, and customer immersion sessions; lead technical execution of ATC-hosted engagements including benchmark design, performance testing, and results presentation
- Work directly with NVIDIA account-aligned resources on GPU/compute design validation, NVAIE software stack integration, and DGX/HGX configuration optimization
- Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure partner teams (AWS, Azure, GCP, Dell, HPE, Cisco, NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast Data) on hybrid and multi-cloud AI architecture design
- Bridge pre-sales and delivery: ensure architectures are feasible, scoped accurately, and documented for clean handoff; participate in scope reviews and SOW validation with the AI Services Consultant
- Operate as an integrated POD member – weekly cadence, joint pipeline reviews, account planning – and as a trusted AI resource embedded with regional field sales teams
- Deliver technical AI training, architecture overviews, and enablement sessions that build field team confidence in qualifying AI opportunities
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in technical pre-sales, solutions architecture, or advanced engineering roles at a solutions provider, OEM, cloud provider, or consulting firm
- Hands-on experience designing AI/ML infrastructure and platforms – able to whiteboard an end-to-end AI architecture from GPU cluster design through networking, storage, software stack, MLOps pipeline, and inference deployment
- Working knowledge of NVIDIA DGX/HGX systems, CUDA, AI Enterprise software suite, and partner integration patterns
- Experience with AI workloads across on-premises, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and hybrid environments; understanding of NCP models, GPU-as-a-service, and sovereign AI infrastructure
- Exceptional ability to translate technical complexity into business-relevant narratives; strong presentation and whiteboarding skills
- Comfortable operating in a revenue-generating, pre-sales context – technical engagement exists to advance deals
- Experience collaborating in co-selling models with sales specialists, field account teams, and partner SE resources
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field required
Preferred Qualifications
- NVIDIA-certified or equivalent AI/ML platform certifications
- Cloud architecture certifications (AWS SA Pro, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP PCA)
- Prior experience at a top-tier solutions provider, related OEM, or cloud provider
- Experience designing AI Factory / GPU cluster architectures at enterprise scale
- Familiarity with WWT's Advanced Technology Center model and lab-led selling methodology
- Master's or advanced degree in technology, analytics, or business
Key Competencies
- Architectural Depth: Can design complete AI infrastructure stacks from first principles. Comfortable at every layer from silicon to application.
- Pre-Sales Instinct: Understands that technical engagement serves deal progression in enterprise customers. Calibrates depth to audience and deal stage.
- Communication Excellence: Translates complex architectures into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and executive audiences.
- Collaborative Teammate: Thrives in a team-selling environment. Earns the trust of field account teams by adding clear value, respecting relationship ownership, and consistently following through on commitments.
- Technical Currency: Maintains deep, current knowledge across GPU/compute, networking, storage, software stack, AI platforms, and MLOps. Invests in continuous learning.
- ATC Champion: Leverages lab environments as a competitive weapon. Designs PoCs that de-risk decisions and accelerate commitment.
- Delivery Bridge: Ensures clean handoff by documenting architectures, assumptions, and scope boundaries. Prevents re-scoping after contract execution.
