The Role

As our AI & Third-Party Assurance Manager, you’ll play an important role within Group Risk, providing integrated governance and assurance across artificial intelligence and third-party risk.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of emerging technology, responsible AI, operational risk and AP+’s external supply chain. You’ll assess the effectiveness of controls and governance, conduct risk-based assurance and quality reviews, evaluate AI considerations, and provide assurance over supplier performance and third-party arrangements.

You’ll work across the organisation to identify risks and vulnerabilities, provide practical recommendations and help ensure remediation actions are understood, prioritised and closed.

This Role Is Responsible For:

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of AP+’s AI and Third-Party Risk Management frameworks, reporting on their performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Planning and conducting risk-based assessments across AI activities and third-party/supplier arrangements, using evidence to evaluate control effectiveness and residual risk.
  • Identifying risks and vulnerabilities and developing or recommending appropriate mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
  • Conducting AI assessments and reviews, ensuring ethical considerations are incorporated into risk and governance decisions.
  • Conducting formal quality assurance reviews and risk-based audits, documenting evidence, findings, root causes and required remediation.
  • Monitoring supplier performance, customer outcomes, security requirements and contractual performance where relevant.
  • Working proactively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve assurance findings, incidents, control weaknesses and performance issues.
  • Providing specialist advice across AI and third-party risk, collaborating with other subject matter experts where risks cross functional boundaries.
  • Developing meaningful reporting and measures to track assurance outcomes, findings, remediation and improvements in evidence quality.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and communicating risk insights clearly to drive corrective actions and lessons learned through to closure.

In order to be successful in this role you’ll need to demonstrate:

  • Experience in risk, assurance, controls or audit, ideally across technology and/or data environments and third-party or supplier arrangements.
  • Exposure to AI risk, AI and responsible AI concepts, with the ability to assess emerging risks and translate them into practical recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of risk and assurance methodologies, evidence-based control assessment and audit practices.
  • Experience conducting formal assessments, analysing evidence, identifying root causes and producing clear, factual findings and reports.
  • Strong understanding of third-party/supplier risk and performance management, including assessing performance against requirements and resolving issues with suppliers.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage internal teams, suppliers and specialist stakeholders on risk and assurance matters.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in risk, technology, data/AI, audit, governance, procurement, supplier management or a related discipline - or equivalent relevant professional experience.

You’ll also bring the ability to turn complex evidence and risk issues into clear insights, recommendations and actions. The role requires strong capability across risk management, quality assurance, AI, audit, specialist advice, measurement, supplier management and stakeholder relationship management.

Ready to change the game?

This is an opportunity to help shape how AP+ manages some of the most important and rapidly evolving areas of risk - from responsible AI to third-party assurance.

Join AP+ and help build the secure, resilient and trusted payments ecosystem Australia needs for tomorrow.
