- Research and critically assess Australian and global fund managers and their products.
- Assist with fund manager interviews and write succinct and reader-friendly rating notes and research reports.
- Be responsible for formulating and justifying our opinions on investment strategies to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Regularly contribute to the regional and local thought leadership agendas to strengthen Morningstar's research brand recognition.
- Support client-related output.
- Help shape Morningstar methodologies.
- Handle ad-hoc analytical assignments on investments, managed funds and products.
- To undertake other administrative, research and/or analytical work as required.
Requirements
- A passion for investing and for helping investors make better investment decisions.
- A keen knowledge of financial markets that has been developed both personally and professionally.
- Independent thinker with at least 2 years of professional work experience, preferably in the financial services industry. Promising candidates with a keen interest in manager research and an analytical background will also be considered.
- Ability to work within a global and interdisciplinary team that includes investment experts, qualitative researchers, data analysts, and software developers.
- Superior verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to think and write creatively. Chinese language skills are viewed favorably.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised together with the ability to prioritise effectively and work in a methodical manner to meet deadlines.
- Skilled with PC and mainstream software packages. Experience with Morningstar Direct an advantage.
- Proactive in building effective internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and acting as a representative of Morningstar.
- Bachelor's degree; advanced degrees and certifications are desirable.
- CFA designation or enrollment is an asset.
