A well-established commercial law practice is looking to strengthen its disputes capability with the addition of an Associate or Senior Associate in Sydney.
This role sits within a high-performing team that advises lenders, financial institutions and insolvency professionals on complex recovery, restructuring and contentious matters.
This is a hands-on role offering exposure to a broad mix of banking litigation and insolvency work, with matters spanning early-stage strategy through to enforcement and litigation.
You will work closely with experienced practitioners on high-value and often sensitive matters, while also having the opportunity to take ownership of your own files.
The practice acts across a range of engagements, including secured recoveries, insolvency appointments and disputes involving financial institutions and corporate stakeholders. Work regularly involves multi-party dynamics and requires a commercial, solutions-focused approach.
You can expect to be involved in:
- Advising lenders and insolvency practitioners on recovery and restructuring strategies
- Acting on secured and unsecured recovery matters
- Managing disputes arising from lending and non-lending scenarios
- Supporting formal insolvency processes, including administrations and liquidations
- Running or assisting on litigation across State and Federal jurisdictions
- 3–5 years’ experience in litigation, insolvency or restructuring
- Exposure to banking disputes or recovery work is highly regarded
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Confident managing matters with appropriate supervision
- A collaborative approach with an interest in mentoring more junior lawyers
This team is known for its pragmatic and commercially focused approach, with a steady pipeline of complex work and direct client engagement.
You’ll be part of a collaborative group where junior lawyers are given real responsibility, and development is supported through hands-on experience rather than rigid structures.
- Consistent exposure to high-quality, complex matters
- Genuine opportunity to take ownership and build client relationships
- Supportive team with strong mentoring from senior lawyers
- Clear progression pathway based on performance
- Broad client base across financial services and insolvency sectors
