YOUR ROLE

Thales Cybersecurity Managed Security Services (MSSP) SOC offers a unique opportunity into cybersecurity. This is a permanent full-time position working a rotating roster, 4 day work weeks with 10 hour shifts. Includes some weekends and overnights. As an Associate SOC Analyst, you will:

  • 24/7 Monitoring: Analyse security events from SIEM (Microsoft Sentinel), EDR, SOAR, and firewalls to detect and escalate threats.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts for clients across defence, government, critical infrastructure, and other industry verticals. Escalate threats, and meet SLAs with precision
  • Collaborate to investigate incidents, draft client reports, and provide clear, actionable updates via email or calls.
  • Client Engagement: Respond to client calls and emails, articulate findings, and assist with monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay ahead of cyber threats, trends, and tools with support to upskill quickly.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:

  • Passion for cybersecurity, with a basic understanding of SIEM, EDR, or SOAR
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to triage alerts, spot anomalies, and think critically under pressure.
  • Familiarity with query languages, particularly KQL (Microsoft Sentinel)
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non-experts.
  • Team player with empathy, adaptability, and self-motivation to thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
  • Prior experience in IT, networking, or security (internships or projects are valuable) is highly regarded
  • Exposure to Microsoft Sentinel, or other SOC tools.

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
