Australian Industry Development Manager - Solid Rocket Motors

The Role:

Australia's sovereign solid rocket motor capability can’t be built by a single factory or supplier. It will be built by developing an home-grown, industrial ecosystem capable of supporting production for decades to come.

Northrop Grumman Australia is helping establish the nation's sovereign solid rocket motor manufacturing capability through the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) enterprise. This role will play a key part in developing the Australian supplier network needed to support this future production.

You'll work across Australian industry, program leadership, engineering teams and Northrop Grumman US specialists to identify capability gaps, develop suppliers and build the manufacturing capacity needed to support future production requirements.

The suppliers are not all there yet. Some have capability today but need support to scale. Others have the foundations but require qualification, certification and investment before they can play a meaningful role in the supply chain. Your focus is helping industry move from potential to capability, and then capability to production readiness.

Working backwards from future manufacturing milestones, you'll help shape the plans, partnerships and supplier development activities needed to support Australia's long-term sovereign manufacturing objectives.

Brisbane or Canberra based. Hybrid working and a 9 day fortnight option available.

Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities    

• Build relationships across industry, government and internal program teams to strengthen Australia's future manufacturing capability.
• Work with suppliers to understand capability gaps and support their journey towards production readiness.
• Coordinate conversations between technical specialists, program teams and industry partners to keep qualification and development activities moving forward.
• Align supplier development plans with future production and capability requirements.
• Support Australian Industry Capability (AIC) commitments and reporting.
• Keep complex stakeholder groups connected, informed and focused on the same outcomes.

About You  

You might come from Defence, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, industry development or major project environments.

The common thread is your ability to build trusted relationships and navigate complex stakeholder networks.
