Based in Woolloomooloo, you will undertake bid and project management activities in the Above Water Systems business portfolio with a focus on supporting the bid team in ensuring the project objectives are achieved. You’ll take ownership of bids from start to finish — coordinating teams, shaping strategy, and turning complex requirements into clear, competitive proposals.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage bids in line with Thales processes and business goals.
  • Work side-by-side with Capture Managers to make sure win themes and value propositions are carried through every part of the submission.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to produce high-quality, compliant and compelling tenders.
  • Manage estimates and costings to meet “price-to-win” targets.
  • Engage with stakeholders across engineering, commercial, legal, and finance to bring everything together on time.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers.
  • Prepare and present bid reviews, ensuring governance and reporting requirements are met.
  • Support and mentor junior bid managers as part of a collaborative bid community.

About You:

  • A degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management or similar.
  • APMP or IPMA certification (or the motivation to get it).
  • Experience managing bids or tenders involving multiple partners or subcontractors.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills — you’re comfortable bringing people together and getting things done.
  • Experience working within a complex organisation or matrix structure.
  • A focus on customers and the ability to manage relationships with professionalism and integrity.

Desired:

  • Experience working within Defence or on ASDEFCON-based projects.
  • Exposure to the maritime domain or naval programs.
