The Opportunity 
We’re looking for a Brand Manager to join our ANZ Team CHC Marketing team on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Senior Brand Manager, the primary purpose of this position is to manage a portfolio of products, and is responsible for achieving or exceeding designated sales, profit and market share targets for the allocated brands. This is achieved by developing and executing all elements of the business plan on time and in full. These brands are sold primarily through the Pharmacy and Grocery channels.

Key accountabilities include: 

Development and implementation of the business plan for the brands in the area of responsibility.

  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and understanding of brand attributes.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of consumer and shopper trends, needs and behaviours.
  • Frequently conduct analysis of the market to understand market dynamics and drivers to anticipate future trends and movements.
  • Conduct analysis of key competitor’s strategy and activity.
  • Prepare SWOT and PEST analyses.
  • Translate data (sales data and market research) into meaningful insights to identify and develop brand positioning and strategy, and critical success factors for future growth.
  • Identify, plan and develop innovation pipeline (product/packaging/claims etc.) for incremental growth.
  • Set pricing and channel strategy for the brand(s) in collaboration with the Sales team.
  • Translate 3-year brand strategies into one year business plan with guidance from Senior Brand Manager / Marketing Manager.

Development and execution of the marketing plan in line with sales, profit, market share and spend targets.

  • Implement best in class communication plans that are efficient, effective and in line with brand objectives.
  • Develop high impact advertising (ATL) and promotional program (BTL) targeted to consumers, shoppers, pharmacy staff, healthcare practitioners, trade and/or other key influencers.
  • In collaboration with the National Account Management team, develop category and brand insights, brand strategies, new line / ranging proposals and customer-specific marketing plans for category reviews.
  • Develop selling and point of sale materials for the field team to implement key brand initiatives in-store in line with agreed Cycle Plan.
  • Regularly measure achievement of KPI’s and ROI throughout the planning period.

Management of key brand operational activities including, but not limited to:

  • Lead product and packaging projects.
  • Manage approval of all promotional material in the Veeva CRM system, and where necessary through external approval processes (e.g. AdCheck).
  • Track product performance, lead product forecasting and rationalisation with inputs from National Account Management team.
  • Review brand financial health and individual SKU profitability.
  • Manage advertising and promotion (A&P) spend in line with agreed budget.
  • Lead consumer and shopper market research initiatives where necessary.
  • Provide supporting materials for key trade shows, congresses, sponsorships.
  • Manage brand sampling program (where relevant).
  • Lead innovation projects through the full iGate process.
  • Lead brand projects for key NPD and promotional initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional project teams.

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will have Brand Manager experience within the Pharmaceutical OTC, FMCG, or Life Sciences industries. Experience in a similar role will also be considered

Other key requirements for this role include:

  • Experience in marketing of Pharmaceutical OTC within Australia (Essential)
  • Proven track record of developing and leading both above-the-line (ATL) and below-the-line (BTL) campaigns to deliver to agreed communication strategy, including working with key agency contacts.
  • Experience marketing products sold across the pharmacy and / or grocery channels.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in managing a brand P&L.
  • Experience in managing brand advertising and promotional spend (A&P).
  • Experience in project management and leading new product development (NPD) projects including commercialisation into market.
  • Ability to develop strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to present information and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience using scan or ex-wholesaler data reporting (Aztec, IQVIA, Circana or Nielsen) with the ability to distil data into actionable insights and recommendations for decisions.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Brand Management.
  • Degree in marketing or a related business discipline (Desirable).
  • Understanding of the TGA guidelines in relation to advertising of therapeutic products (Essential).
