About the Role
Remitly is hiring for a APAC Business Development Management role with responsibilities to pursue key payments business development initiatives with new strategic payments partners, assist with aspects of new partner onboarding and drive excellent commercial, product and operational performance of the largest and most strategic money movement partners for the region. Such partners may include banks, aggregators, mobile wallets and other third parties. The ideal candidate will have a strong functional background in partner management and business development, with part of that experience (3-5 years) in the payments space & a strong understanding of the payments ecosystem in Asia.
In this role you will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, legal, marketing, operations, finance, and regulatory reps to launch new and evolve existing payments partnership opportunities. You'll work directly with top industry partners.
We are seeking a candidate with a strategic perspective on both product and partnership development, and a proven ability to influence and negotiate both externally and internally. The candidate should be comfortable with technical and financial aspects, and able to effectively communicate up and down a management ladder. The candidate should also be excited by the challenge of developing new partnerships, deliver best in class end customer experience and meet mutual partnership objectives. Additionally, they should enjoy a team-oriented environment, and cross-functional collaboration.
You Will:
Jointly drive regional strategy with BD lead
Own and drive initiatives with key strategic partners that may include banks, payments processors or alternate payments providers - drive key metrics including cost efficiencies, speed, quality, working capital efficiencies and new product enablement.

Negotiate renewals, amendments, economics and expand product footprint while driving partnerships growth
Advocate for product partnership growth initiatives and joint roadmaps
Supervise and drive decision-making on all agreement mechanics.
Oversee negotiations and contract execution in partnership with cross functional teams
Ensure that deal signing results in successful go live, meeting initial partnership goals while working with cross functional teams
Stay informed about regulatory changes and market developments that may impact the company's partnerships and growth initiatives.
Market, competitor and customer insights- maintain a close watch on key market trends, and develop strong feedback loops with relevant cross-functional teams to enable swift actions
Monitor, measure, and report on the progress and effectiveness of strategic initiatives, adapting strategies as needed to address changing market conditions and business dynamics.
You Have:
10+ years of strategic partnerships /business development experience, out of which 3-5 years are in a Payments business
Robust understanding of consumer payments and cross border money movements
Demonstrated cross-functional communication skills and relationship building experience with commercial, product, legal and compliance teams.
Strong communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
Extremely self-motivated and curious - desire to understand the Remitly customer, and translate these learnings into strategies.
An action-oriented and strategic leader who is comfortable bringing structure and strategy across different opportunities and environments
Anticipates future market, business or product problems and sets the organization up to succeed in advance.
Experience and willingness to travel, and potentially extensively
BS/BA required, MBA highly desirable
