Mission statement:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our High Voltage Switchgear team in Sydney. This role is critical in enhancing our market share and promoting our comprehensive portfolio of HV Switchgear products to Transmission and Distribution Utilities, EPCs, and end customers, including Wind and Solar Farm developers.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will engage with customers to assess and pre-qualify Hitachi Energy's switchgear products and manufacturing capabilities.
  • You will lead initiatives to introduce and promote new technologies, such as Econiq, IGA etc to targeted client sectors and consultants.
  • You will conduct early technical discussions with consultants and end customers to advocate for technical solutions and influence project specifications during the design phase, conduct market research on technical grounds and analysis to identify trends, customer need and competitive landscape, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • You will provide technical support to the sales team, assisting in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and customer-specific documentation.
  • You will work closely with the Business Unit and Front-End Sales teams to align marketing strategies with business objectives, represent Hitachi Energy HV Switchgear at industry seminars, conferences and technical committees, showcasing our innovative solutions and market leadership and develop and implement strategies to diversify market share through the effective utilization of our extensive HV Switchgear portfolio.

Your background:

  • You hold bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in business or product marketing, particularly in the energy or electrical sector.
  • Strong technical background in high voltage switchgear or related technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience in engaging with consultants and influencing project specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of effective customer engagement.
