About The Role

Join Doctors’ Health Fund, part of the Avant Group, and play a key role in growing Australia’s private health insurer dedicated to the medical community.
As our Business Development Manager, you’ll focus on expanding our reach across the healthcare sector by building relationships, developing new partnerships and creating referral opportunities through Avant’s established national network.
Based in Sydney, this permanent full-time role combines business development, relationship management and strategic thinking. You’ll work across Doctors’ Health Fund and the wider Avant Group to activate referral channels, identify new opportunities and drive sustainable membership growth.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is commercially minded, relationship-driven and comfortable working autonomously. You’ll have the opportunity to represent Doctors’ Health Fund across the healthcare industry and contribute directly to our future growth strategy.

Key Accountabilities

In this role, you will:

  • Drive membership growth through Avant’s BDM network and your own business development activity.
  • Identify and pursue new business, partnership and referral opportunities across the medical and healthcare community.
  • Build strong relationships with hospitals, medical practices, allied health providers and other key industry partners.
  • Equip Avant’s BDM network with the tools, knowledge and messaging needed to identify and refer Doctors’ Health Fund opportunities.
  • Develop and improve referral pathways, sales tools and processes to increase lead quality and conversion.
  • Partner with Marketing to deliver campaigns, training and sales enablement initiatives.
  • Represent Doctors’ Health Fund at industry events, conferences and forums.
  • Use market insights, performance data and competitor activity to identify opportunities and inform business development strategy.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, call centre and broader Avant teams to improve lead management and the member experience.
  • Ensure business development activities are delivered in line with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements

Key Capabilities

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in business development, sales or relationship management, with a track record of achieving targets.
  • Experience within private health insurance, healthcare, health services, financial services or another regulated industry.
  • An understanding of the private health insurance landscape, including industry trends, regulation and competitive dynamics.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credibility with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to understand customer needs and develop solutions that create value.
  • Confidence using performance data and market insights to inform decisions and identify opportunities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience working with referral networks, partner channels or distributed sales teams will be highly regarded.
