Job Description

Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager - MICE to join our team and play a key role in growing business opportunities for one of the Hunter Valley’s premier resort destinations.

As the Business Development Manager - MICE, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic client relationships, and driving revenue growth across corporate, meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE) segments. With a focus on both new business development and account management, you will position Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort as a leading destination for conferences, retreats, group stays, and corporate experiences.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to increase corporate and MICE revenue for Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, industry events, and targeted sales activity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and key industry partners.
  • Manage and grow existing accounts to maximise repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct client meetings, site inspections, and familiarisation visits to showcase the resort’s accommodation, conference facilities, golf, and leisure offerings.
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and secure group bookings and events.
  • Collaborate with operational teams including Events, Front Office, Reservations, and Revenue to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Maintain strong market knowledge, monitor competitor activity, and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales reporting, forecasts, and pipeline activity.

Qualifications

You are a motivated and commercially focused sales professional who thrives on building relationships and achieving results. You will have:

  • Proven experience in hospitality sales, with a strong background in corporate and MICE markets.
  • A successful track record of generating new business and growing client portfolios.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong understanding of the hotel, conference, and events industry.
  • The ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies.
  • Exceptional organisation, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing sales pipelines and CRM systems.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider resort team.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding service and creating memorable client experiences.
