Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity 

We are growing our Business Development capability within Beca’s Buildings business and are looking for an experienced Senior Business Development Advisor to help shape and deliver our growth. This is a strategic, relationship-focused role where you will partner with senior leaders across the business to develop and deliver business development plans, lead major pursuits, and strengthen client relationships. At Beca, our purpose is to make everyday better. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team that works closely together to win meaningful work and deliver value for our clients and communities.

This role offers the opportunity to operate at both strategic and delivery levels, influencing how we position ourselves in the market and how we bring the best of Beca to our clients. Working closely with Business Development Director, General Managers, Market Segment Leaders, technical teams and the wider Business Development team, you will: 

  • Contribute to and implement business development plans across key markets and sectors 

  • Provide strategic input into, and lead, “Must Win” bids and pursuits 

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to align on priorities and support delivery against them 

  • Drive best practice across the bid process, including pursuit planning, bid management, writing, and reviewing 

  • Support and implement client relationship strategies, maintaining strong pipeline discipline 

  • Build trusted relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners 

  • Support the development of business development capability across the team, including coaching, working with and mentoring, especially junior team members 

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, driving quality and efficiency (including optimising use of AI tools and approaches) 

  • contribute to strengthening Beca’s presence in the market through industry engagement, networking, and building our external profile.

Ko wai koe | About you 
You are an experienced business development professional with a background in professional services, consulting, or a similar environment. You enjoy working in partnership with others and bring a strategic, relationship-led approach to your work. You will bring: 

  • Experience in business development, bid leadership, or pursuit management within a professional services environment 

  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to understand client drivers, market trends, and competitive positioning 

  • A track record of contributing to successful complex bids and pursuits 

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence working with senior leaders 

  • A client-focused mindset, with the ability to build trusted, long-term relationships 

  • Experience supporting and developing others to grow capability 

  • Tertiary qualifications and relevant business development or commercial experience are expected. 

You will also be: 

  • Adaptable and resilient, able to navigate competing priorities and deadlines 

  • Outcome-focused, with a drive for continuous improvement 

  • Collaborative, with a strong team mindset and willingness to share knowledge 

  • Curious and open-minded, with an interest in identifying new opportunities
