  • Market Index is the go-to source for comprehensive market data and ASX information, covering listed companies, ETFs, LICs, and REITs.

As a fast-growing force in financial markets content, we are seeking a commercially savvy and driven Business Development Manager who will help us grow our B2B client base across our existing markets of funds management, private wealth and into new territory, too.

Job Description

This is a new-business role, end-to-end. You'll find the opportunity, run the pitch, close the deal, and hand the client over warm.

Your patch is our existing markets - funds management and private wealth - plus the adjacent ones we haven't properly explored yet: trading platforms, investing apps, fintech, superannuation, insurance and financial education. There's also a list of lapsed clients who used to work with us and stopped. Some of them should be clients we are working with again.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Prospect and convert new clients across wealth, funds management and adjacent financial services.
  • Work with warm ex-clients and rebuild those relationships.
  • Open up new agency relationships.
  • Sell our advertising and campaign products directly - web, email, and sponsored content.
  • Spot the bigger partnership and sponsorship opportunities, and pull in the right people to land them.
  • Keep a clean, qualified pipeline in HubSpot, and use CRM data, ad monitoring and inbound demand to decide where your time goes.

You'll work closely with Partnerships, Content, and Product - the good deals here are built to solve client problems for the long term which is achieved through collaboration.

What we're looking for

  • A track record in outbound business development, media, advertising or B2B sales, with numbers you can point to.
  • Comfort doing the whole cycle yourself: prospecting, pitching, closing, whilst seeking collaboration from the team where it matters most.
  • Sharp written and verbal communication, and the judgment to pitch differently to a boutique fund than to a media agency.
  • The resilience to work a long sales cycle without losing the thread.
  • A structured approach to pipeline development. HubSpot experience helps.

Helpful, not essential:

  • Financial media, content marketing or sponsorship sales - or selling into agencies and financial services marketing teams.
  • Working knowledge of funds management, wealth, ETFs or the broader financial services landscape.
  • A real interest in investing and markets. You'll be selling to people who live and breathe it, and they can tell.

What you get

  • Hybrid working, and a team that treats it as normal rather than a concession.
  • A learning and development budget you're expected to actually spend.
  • Direct access to leading fund managers, wealth brands and platforms - the people you're selling to are worth knowing.
  • Room to move. People here get to pick and push their career where they want so you’ll have the opportunity to craft your future in a growing business without silos.
