AAD is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Business Development Manager to join our South Australian team.

AAD is  Australia’s leading distributor of aftermarket parts for passenger vehicles and have a long and successful history as an autoaftermarket parts importer, distributer and service provider since 1981.

Reporting to the State Manager, this role is responsible for driving profitable sales growth across an established territory through a combination of new business development, strategic account management, and market expansion activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated sales professional who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities, and winning business in a competitive market. Experience within the automotive aftermarket industry will be highly regarded, however strong sales performers from adjacent industries are encouraged to apply.

Job Description

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for growing AAD's market share by developing existing customer relationships, identifying new opportunities, and converting business from competitors.

You will work closely with customers to understand their needs while partnering internally with the State Manager and broader AAD team to deliver solutions that drive long-term customer loyalty and commercial success.

The role includes regular travel throughout South Australia, including regional visits and occasional interstate travel.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities within your territory.
  • Maintain a pipeline of target customers currently purchasing from competitors.
  • Develop and execute territory growth plans to increase market share.
  • Drive profitable sales growth across assigned accounts.
  • Monitor market activity and identify emerging opportunities.

Account Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Review customer performance and implement strategies to increase share of wallet.
  • Identify and address sales erosion within existing accounts.
  • Collaborate with customers to improve service, product availability and ease of doing business.
  • Ensure pricing remains competitive and aligned with market conditions.

Market Intelligence

  • Gather and report competitor pricing, promotions and market activity.
  • Provide feedback on customer trends and changing market conditions.
  • Recommend proactive strategies to improve AAD's competitive position.

Customer Engagement

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support.
  • Manage customer enquiries and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Represent AAD at trade shows, industry events and customer functions.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity reporting.

Qualifications

You are a driven sales professional who enjoys winning new business while developing long-term customer partnerships.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in business development, sales or account management.
  • Demonstrated success achieving sales and growth targets.
  • Experience within the automotive aftermarket, automotive parts, industrial, trade or related sectors will be highly regarded.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking ability.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • High level of commercial acumen and business development capability.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly.
