We Dream. We Design. We Deliver.

Join hummgroup, one of Australasia’s most successful and enduring non-bank financial services institutions. We specialise in fast, easy finance with a market-leading range of business asset finance, credit cards and point of sale payment plan solutions designed around the core needs of today’s businesses and retail consumers. Come join our team and be a part of our next chapter of innovation and growth.

What's so exciting about this role?

This role drives value through innovation, ownership of key data assets, and proactive insight generation. We are seeking a highly analytical and detail‑oriented Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to join our data and analytics team. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with Power BI, strong SQL scripting capabilities, foundational knowledge or academic exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI), and a solid understanding of cloud computing environments.

What Does An Average Day Look Like?

No day is average at humm but here’s an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:

  • Own and curate business‑critical metrics, datasets, and insight products used across the organisation.
  • Contribute to governed metric definitions, transformation logic, and the semantic layer to ensure consistency and trust.
  • Design and execute controlled analytical experiments to validate hypotheses and support decision cycles.
  • Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities before they are requested.
  • Support business questions, decision cycles, and value‑realisation initiatives through high‑quality analytics.
  • Identify decision pain points and collaborate with stakeholders to define success measures and improvement pathways.
  • Develop scalable, high‑quality dashboards and analytical assets using Power BI, aligned to data product standards rather than one‑off reporting.
  • Use analytics and AI‑assisted techniques to augment insights within established governance and human‑oversight frameworks.
  • Conduct performance‑aware, cost‑efficient querying and modelling within Snowflake, ensuring scalable data consumption across teams.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and platform teams to enhance data pipelines, data quality, and cloud‑native analytics capabilities.

Who will thrive in this role?

You are customer obsessed and want to make a difference in their lives. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are not afraid to challenge the status quo. You are a visionary leader who will roll up your sleeves to get things done.

We’re also looking for someone who brings:

  • Strong experience with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, and scalable dashboard design.
  • Advanced SQL scripting skills, including performance tuning, CTEs, and transformation logic.
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake or any cloud platform.
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and the ability to apply AI‑assisted analytical techniques responsibly.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive insight‑led decision‑making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience contributing to semantic layers, governed metrics frameworks, or data product catalogues.
  • Exposure to Python or R for analytical workflows.
  • Familiarity with experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, uplift modelling, causal inference).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Snowflake, Azure or AWS.
  • Certifications in Power BI, Snowflake, cloud analytics, or AI/ML.
