The Purpose

As a 12-month max term contract position, the purpose of the Business Intelligence Analyst role is to support AP+ make informed, data-driven decisions across Australia’s domestic payments ecosystem by transforming complex operational, transactional and strategic data into actionable insights. Additionally, this role plays an important part in supporting operational performance, strategic transformation, regulatory obligations and enterprise risk management.

Key Outcomes the Role Owns:

  • Gather and interpret business requirements across reporting, analytics, insights and operational troubleshooting.
  • Analyse and interpret data from multiple sources, ensuring data accuracy, consistency and integrity.
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights and reporting to stakeholders through effective communication and presentation.
  • Develop scalable, self-service reporting solutions to support organisation-wide use.
  • Manage ongoing reporting and data requests, including controlled updates to reports, dashboards and data models.
  • Investigate data and reporting issues, identify anomalies and determine root causes impacting transaction products and business processes.
  • Document and standardise reporting methodologies, processes and insight frameworks across AP+.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of reporting outcomes and business objectives.

You’ll likely be a strong fit for this role if you can confidently answer “yes” to most of the following:

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Proven experience working in data analysis or reporting roles.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX, Advanced Excel, SQL and Python.
  • Knowledge of data modelling principles preferred.
  • Experience in payments, financial services or transaction data environments highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.

  • Support the effective management, quality and governance of data and information assets.
  • Conduct data validation, integrity checks and routine analysis to support business decisions.

Business Analysis & Requirements

  • Analyse business problems, identify root causes and recommend practical improvements.
  • Gather, document and manage reporting and analytics requirements with stakeholders.

Data Analytics & Business Intelligence

  • Perform end-to-end data analysis to generate actionable insights and support decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and self-service BI solutions.
  • Integrate and validate data from multiple sources to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.

Data Visualisation

  • Design clear and effective visualisations and dashboards tailored to stakeholder needs.
  • Present insights and data narratives in a concise and understandable manner.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective stakeholder relationships through collaboration, communication and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to a team-focused environment and support successful delivery outcomes.
