Lead our Business Performance (VCFO) offering and drive high-impact advisory outcomes across Australia and New Zealand

Following an internal promotion, we are seeking a Business Performance Lead (VCFO) to drive our business performance offering. You will lead the daily operations of the Business Performance team to ensure our advisory services are scalable, standardised, and commercially sustainable. Your focus will be on delivering high-impact strategic and financial planning for senior, high-trust client engagements.

This opportunity is open to candidates across Australia, with the ability to work from any of our regional or metropolitan hubs.

Your role, your contribution

  • Client Delivery Leadership: Oversee the delivery of the Business Performance (VCFO) offering ensuring consistent quality and scope discipline. You will personally lead Strategic Planning workshops and senior advisory engagements, including board reporting and growth initiatives.
  • Operational Management: Own the weekly operating cadence including work allocation, WIP control, and quality checks. You will manage the pipeline and resolve resourcing constraints to ensure timely delivery.
  • Commercial Ownership: Manage a profitable portfolio by overseeing engagement economics, margins, and fee estimations. You will play a key role in proposal development and shaping solutions for new clients.
  • People Leadership: Provide direct coaching and mentoring to the Business Performance team. You will focus on uplifting consulting capabilities and developing Senior Client Managers into senior advisory practitioners.
  • Standardisation and Improvement: Drive the use of standard templates and methods to ensure delivery is repeatable and not dependent on individual preference. You will partner with the Head of Products and Services to implement automation and tools.
  • Stakeholder Integration: Build strong relationships with Partners and Client Teams to ensure seamless handoffs and clear communication throughout the sales and delivery process.

The benefits of joining us

  • Flexible working arrangements through our flexible working policy.
  • Option to purchase additional leave to support life commitments and planned breaks.
  • Structured leadership programs and development pathways, with coaching and learning support.
  • Strong internal networks and support across Findex to help you succeed in the role.

What you bring to the role

You are an experienced advisory professional from a public practice background who enjoys both high-level strategy and the operational mechanics of leading a team. You possess:

  • 8 or more years of experience in professional services (accounting, advisory, or consulting) with significant SME advisory exposure.
  • Proven expertise in designing and facilitating advisory workshops and delivering strategic outputs.
  • A strong technical grounding in management reporting, three-way forecasting, and scenario modelling.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on coaching and uplifting the consulting capabilities of others.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and partners within a matrix structure.
  • A Bachelor of Business or an equivalent tertiary qualification.
