Bapcor Retail is a leading provider of vehicle parts, accessories, equipment, service and solutions across a wide variety of brands via a national network of over 500 company-owned, franchise and independent stores.

These include our largest retail channel of Autobarn as well as our independent parts and accessories brands Autopro and Sprint.  We also operate well known and trusted auto service centres under the Midas and ABS brands.

We're looking for a commercially minded Category Manager to take ownership of a diverse product portfolio and help shape the future growth of our retail business.

This is an opportunity to own a category end-to-end, influence strategy, build supplier partnerships and deliver tangible commercial outcomes within a market-leading organisation.

Job Description

This isn't simply a buying role.

You'll have responsibility for developing category strategy, managing supplier relationships, driving range optimisation, pricing, promotional activity and profitability while working closely with sales, marketing and operations teams.

If you enjoy making commercial decisions and seeing the impact of those decisions on revenue, margin and customer outcomes, you'll thrive in this position.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and execute category growth strategies
  • Own category sales, margin and profitability outcomes
  • Analyse market trends, customer insights and competitor activity
  • Optimise product assortment and ranging decisions
  • Lead pricing strategies and monitor category performance
  • Negotiate supplier agreements and trading terms
  • Identify opportunities to improve category performance and market share
  • Partner with marketing on promotional planning and campaigns
  • Manage inventory performance and product lifecycle activities
  • Mentor and develop an Assistant Category Manager

Qualifications

  • Experience owning a category, product portfolio or merchandise range
  • Strong commercial acumen and P&L awareness
  • Proven supplier negotiation skills
  • A customer-led approach to category management
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to turn insights into action
  • Experience developing range, pricing and promotional strategies
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work both strategically and operationally
