The opportunity
This is a senior, highly visible role within QBE’s Global Reinsurance team. You will be part of a team of reinsurance experts, responsible for purchasing and managing reinsurance across the AUSPAC portfolio (Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific).
You’ll operate as a trusted reinsurance expert and market representative, working closely with brokers, reinsurers and senior internal stakeholders to secure optimal commercial outcomes for QBE. While an individual contributor role, it carries significant influence, including exposure to executive leadership discussions.
This role is ideal for an experienced reinsurance professional who thrives in relationship led, commercially focused environments, and enjoys operating with senior level accountability.

Your new role
As Ceded Reinsurance Lead, you will:
Assist in the reinsurance placement for the AUSPAC portfolios across general insurance products
Manage placements through both QBE’s internal captive and the external reinsurance market
Build and maintain strong relationships with our partners i.e. key brokers and reinsurers
Negotiate directly with reinsurers to secure optimal commercial and risk outcomes
Partner closely with internal stakeholders across various teams
Prepare and contribute to Board level papers and senior executive communications
Act as a trusted advisor, confidently challenging and influencing
Ensure strong governance across placements, treaty wordings, security requests and reporting
Assist with reinsurance budgets, pricing inputs and regulatory / Group reporting requirements
About you
You are a seasoned reinsurance professional with strong market credibility and commercial judgement. You are comfortable operating at senior levels and representing the organisation externally.
You will bring:
Strong reinsurance experience within general insurance (highly preferred)
Exceptional relationship building, communication and negotiation skills
Confidence to influence senior stakeholders
Strong commercial acumen and financial awareness
Comfort operating with ambiguity and senior level accountability
