A Chapter lead sets the standards for the chapter area and takes responsibility for developing, innovating, and safeguarding knowledge in the field of expertise to deliver technical activities related to the continuous delivery of working services for the organization and its customers. Develops and leads people to meet both their individual goals, career goals, organization's goals.
As this is a people and technology leadership, for one of our Squads you will be driving advancement in our engineering practices. You will lead by example and coach others to develop and automate the testing of robust, adaptable code that is always production ready.
Through collaboration with other developers your work will improve the digital banking experience for our customers and our staff, and as a leader in the software engineering community you will play a key role in the continual advancement of our engineering practices through practices such as Agile and Continuous Delivery but you will also remain highly aware of industry trends and bring the best of the global engineering practices to ING.
What you’ll do
- Lead the SDLC technology landscape while supporting the tribe on various initiatives as well as leading a team of 4 engineers plus vendor resources.
- Write code that is easy to read, highly maintainable, and written with automated testing in mind while ensuring quality and ownership for deliverables, set and improve standards according to ING’s agile way of working.
- Ensure the effective documentation and communication of knowledge, system and process.
- Manage multiple stakeholders and teams in a collaborative and results driven manner
- Be an advocate for the adoption of Agile / Scrum practice, methodologies, and attitudes. Role model Agile leadership behaviours
What we’re looking for
- 8 + Years of Software Engineering expertise with Core Java (Java 8 highly rewarded) as well as Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST APIs & Microservices
- 2+ years' technical and people leadership experience in delivering software projects, familiar with Kafka is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of tools across full software delivery lifecycle as well as a good understanding of DevOps best practices
- Expertise with SDLC fundamentals including Scalable architectures, domain-driven and event-driven design as well as Databases experience such as SQL (MSSql/MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis), query optimization
- Ability to operate independently and provide technical and personable leadership in ambiguity.
Desirable skills
- AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.
- Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar pub-sub tools.
- OWASP, secure coding practices, compliance knowledge (e.g., GDPR).
