Your New Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Claims Operations, the Claims Optimisation Manager is a key member of the Claims Operations team. This role is responsible for driving continued service uplift in insurance and claims operations, improving the end-to-end claim experience for members and beneficiaries. 

You will work across AustralianSuper teams and external partners to identify opportunities, assess options and deliver approved recommendations that uplift claim management and support timely payments. You will also help ensure claims handling and calls are delivered fairly, honestly and efficiently, while supporting continuous improvement and excellent outcomes for members and their beneficiaries. 

The role sits within the Insurance Operations & Claims team, within the Member Operations department under the Member Domain.

Key duties include but are not limited to;

  • Assess the current claims ecosystem and recommend changes to uplift claim management and expedite payments. 
  • Drive approved recommendations for claim uplift across AustralianSuper teams and external partners, ensuring alignment with business objectives and successful outcomes. 
  • Propose enhancements to the operating model, Fund ecosystem and claim processes, including systems, workflow logic, communications and business rules. 
  • Draft business cases, write committee papers, review business requirements and develop structured activity to support recommendation outcomes.
  • Lead regular engagement with project stakeholders and business teams to ensure needs are identified and addressed. 
  • Track and monitor claim enhancement outcomes and processes. 
  • Identify risks associated with recommended options and facilitate decision-making in line with Fund policies, standards and procedures. 
  • Contribute to regular reporting on metrics for internal stakeholders and support organisational change initiatives. 

What You’ll Need

  • Experience preparing reports, governance papers and insurance-related documentation. 
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and contemporary claims governance practices. 
  • Strong experience in delivering transformation, operations optimisation or continuous improvement. 
  • Proficiency in MS Suite and tools such as Jira, MS Project, Confluence, SharePoint, Teams and Power BI. 
  • Critical thinking capability, with the ability to identify, analyse and communicate potential opportunities, issues and risks. 
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to transform operational data and observations into actionable insights. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience working across various levels of an organisation. 
  • A tertiary qualification in financial services, insurance or superannuation management. 
  • A high level of personal integrity and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters.
