As part of our newly created Cloud Engineering team, we’re on the lookout for a passionate Cloud Engineer to help shape the future of cloud services at EML. This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal role within a growing function and play a lead role in delivering strategic cloud initiatives that enhance reliability, security, and scalability across our hybrid cloud platforms.
You’ll be hands-on in supporting cloud architecture, automation, and operations, while working closely with cross-functional teams to optimise cloud performance and costs. This is more than BAU — it’s a chance to influence how we build and manage intelligent solutions for our business as we evolve.
This will be a full time, 12 month contract position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and support all cloud services deployed in AWS & Azure, automating infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and developing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Implement and maintain cloud security services, IAM best practices, RBAC, and ensure compliance with APRA CPS 234, ISO 27001, and other regulatory standards.
- Configure and manage VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and hybrid cloud connectivity, implementing network security controls and optimising performance.
- Plan and execute cloud migrations and workload optimisation using auto-scaling, serverless computing, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), and Docker.
- Implement cloud monitoring, logging, and incident response processes using tools like PRTG, Datadog, and native AWS/Azure services, participating in root cause analysis and post-mortems.
- Collaborate with development, security, and infrastructure teams to align cloud strategies, maintain technical documentation, and deliver internal training and knowledge sharing
.ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer with 5+ years in the IT sector, including at least 3 years leading the implementation and management of AWS & Azure services.
- Strong background in hybrid cloud environments, with hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Solid knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud services, with experience in Kubernetes, containerised workloads, serverless computing, microservices, and API management.
- Proficient in scripting, CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins CI/CD), and disaster recovery solutions, with a strong understanding of cloud security frameworks (CIS, NIST).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and solid experience in designing and documenting complex technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within cross-functional technology teams.
