About the role 

The Cloud Systems Engineer is responsible for managing, supporting, and improving HammondCare’s cloud and server infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient technology services across the organisation. 

Responsibilities 

  • Design, manage, and optimise hybrid cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments. 

  • Administer and support Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualisation platforms, and core infrastructure services.   

  • Manage Azure resources, identity services, storage, networking, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.   

  • Provide Level 3 technical support, troubleshooting complex infrastructure and cloud-related issues.   

  • Lead and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, cloud adoption, and modernisation projects.   

  • Maintain security, patching, vulnerability management, compliance, and operational standards.   

  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and resilience to ensure reliable service delivery.   

  • Manage enterprise file, print, SharePoint, backup, and business continuity services. 

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and architecture artefacts.   

  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and service providers while supporting change, incident, and problem management processes.   

  • Drive cloud governance, cost optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.   

  • Participate in after-hours support and on-call activities for critical incidents.

What we are looking for 

  • Commitment to HammondCare’s Christian Mission and values.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology (or related field), or equivalent practical experience.   

  • 3–5 years' experience in a Cloud Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.   

  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, and technology solutions.  

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, hybrid cloud infrastructure, Windows Server, virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V), and Microsoft 365.   

  • Experience managing identity, security, networking, SharePoint, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.   

  • Strong skills in infrastructure security, patching, vulnerability management, automation (PowerShell/Python), and troubleshooting.   

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, customer service, and project delivery capabilities.   

  • Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and provide on-call/after-hours support when required.  

  • Certification in Microsoft or equivalent (MCSE, Azure/AWS) desirable 

  • ITIL certification  desirable 

  • IT security experience  desirable
