The Opportunity

We are expanding our thriving Dispute Resolution practice and we need a talented and driven 1-4 PQE lawyer to join our Debt Recovery team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious lawyer looking to accelerate their career with hands-on work, genuine responsibility, and direct client interaction from day one.

This is an exciting opportunity for a debt recovery lawyer to work directly with a diverse client base ranging from SMEs to large corporate entities, including lenders, across a broad range of debt recovery matters, effectively acting as an extension of their internal collections efforts, while also taking on early leadership responsibility by overseeing a team of graduates and paralegals, working closely with and reporting to Practice Leaders, and playing a key role in managing and building strong client relationships.

You will be part of a genuinely collaborative team that values work-life balance and supports one another rather than competing. This is a culture built on mutual respect and shared success, where you can advance your career without sacrificing your well-being.

  • Managing and prioritising a caseload to meet administrative and procedural deadlines.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in a timely and effective manner.
  • Identifying opportunities for, and contributing to, system and process improvements.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Admitted to practise law in Australia, with current unrestricted practising certificate
  • 2-4 years of experience working in commercial debt recovery.
  • Strong working knowledge of debt recovery processes, including statutory demands, letters of demand, default judgments, garnishee orders, and enforcement proceedings
  • Experience managing a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines
  • Confidence appearing in court or before tribunals for interlocutory and enforcement matters
  • Strong written and verbal communication, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to advise clients directly on strategy, risk, and commercial outcomes
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • High attention to detail and strong file management and time-recording discipline
