Motion Australia is the market leader for the custom manufacturing and distribution of automotive solutions, power transmission, hose and fittings and industrial products across Australia. We have over 1,300 dedicated team members in over 130 branches servicing customers across mining, construction, agriculture and manufacturing industries.

The Commercial Analyst is a new role created within Motion Commercial Finance. The role is to support the finance team to drive strategic and financial outcomes from transformational and business optimisation projects. This role will partner with cross functional stakeholders and will be instrumental in implementing the key strategic and transformational initiatives to accelerate business performance across Motion’s lines of business.  

The ideal candidate can navigate ambiguity and utilise data to drive business process improvements implementations. 

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Process Mapping: using tools e.g. flowcharts or other diagramming techniques to create visual representations of workflows
  • Process Analysis: evaluating existing business processes to pinpointing delays, inefficiencies, and bottlenecks within processes.
  • Solution Design: Recommending solutions to address identified process issues, which may involve automation, process redesign, or other changes.
  • Documentation: Creating clear and concise documentation of processes and solutions for stakeholders
  • Support project delivery
  • Use data driven insights to champion continuous process improvements
  • Bridge the gap between Finance and IT / BI / Project management team
  • Reporting: be able to create reports / Powerpoint slides to report on trend, insights and benefits tracking

About you:

  • Commercial / Analytical background – experience handling and analysing complex, high volume data with great attention to detail
  • End to end ownership mindset – be able to pick up work outside the JD and bring the project over the finish line
  • Be able to distil information creatively and visually so that it is digestible to both finance and non-finance partners
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform under pressure in a changing business environment with the willingness and comfort to be in the details
  • Strong communication skills
