Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to support a long-standing government portfolio delivering essential community services across New South Wales. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will work collaboratively with client and BGIS teams to drive contractual compliance, vendor performance, commercial outcomes, governance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will join an experienced team supporting a long-standing government client, with the opportunity to influence commercial performance, supplier outcomes, and service excellence. The role requires someone who can confidently navigate complex stakeholder environments, support constructive conversations, and balance strong commercial outcomes with positive working relationships.

The ideal candidate will be customer focused, resilient, solutions oriented, and comfortable engaging with a broad range of personalities. You will bring a collaborative approach, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to remain professional and composed when managing competing priorities and challenging conversations. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support commercial management, reporting, governance, and performance obligations across a large government contract.
  • Monitor contractual compliance and ensure KPIs, reporting requirements, and governance obligations are achieved.
  • Manage vendor performance, supplier compliance, and improvement initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Provide commercial advice and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Review contract obligations, risk positions, variations, and performance-related matters.
  • Support negotiations with suppliers and stakeholders to achieve positive commercial and operational outcomes.
  • Coordinate reporting, governance forums, audits, and performance reviews.
  • Identify commercial risks and support mitigation strategies across the account.
  • Work closely with operational teams to improve service delivery performance and vendor outcomes.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support long-term account success. 

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Strong commercial management, contract management, vendor management, or performance management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience within facilities management, property, project management, real estate services, government contracts, or similarly complex service environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
  • Experience managing KPI-driven contracts and supplier performance frameworks.
  • Experience interpreting and managing contractual obligations, risks, and governance requirements.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Sound financial, commercial, and risk management knowledge.
  • Ability to influence outcomes while maintaining positive and productive working relationships.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, Law, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • Five or more years' experience within commercial, contract, vendor, or performance management roles.
  • Experience within government, social infrastructure, facilities management, or property environments.
  • Exposure to PPP contracts, structured service agreements, or large outsourced service contracts.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience using CMMS or performance reporting platforms.

Workplace Flexibility

To support your success, this position will initially be based in Parramatta, close to public transport and local amenities. Following onboarding and training, a hybrid working arrangement of 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home will be available.
