About the role:

As the Communications Manager at Tyro, you will be responsible for creating, driving and supporting initiatives that build Tyro’s external profile.

What you'll do:

Brand Fame:

  • Create compelling, sharable content and materials designed to generate media coverage, industry engagement and social media buzz, positioning Tyro as a champion for specialised small businesses across Australia.

Employer Brand Fame:

  • Create compelling, sharable content and materials designed to attract talent and build Tyro’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP) via LinkedIn and related channels.

Industry Fame:

  • Identify and pursue profiling and award opportunities for Tyro and our key spokespeople, positioning Tyro as an innovative fintech leader. Liaising with external stakeholders, including media, industry bodies and associations as needed.

Corporate Fame:

  • Support the production of company announcements, including partnerships, product launches, offers and compelling corporate milestones.

Operational Excellence:

  • Manage the 2025/2026 external communications calendar, driving operational excellence in the Communications team via proactive project management, improvements to systems, processes, and by adhering to Tyro’s approval workflows.

  • Work closely with the Head of Communications to ensure Tyro’s product claims and company messaging is accurate, up to date and approved on a quarterly basis.

  • Monthly reporting on communications activities.

What you'll bring:

  • Previous experience working with complex topics in fast-paced businesses and understands how to influence and connect with lots of different experts and senior leaders.

  • Demonstrated experience creating compelling stories and content that generates interest from target media and customers in previous communications, journalist or media agency roles. 

  • Experience writing for both general public audiences via engaging news stories, as well as for sophisticated audiences.

  • A track record of successfully liaising with Tier 1 journalists.

  • Examples of engaging social media content that you have created.

  • A familiarity with modern comms tech stack: Slack, AI, Streem media monitoring.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills - must be able to work with cross functional experts with skillsets in Marketing, Product, Strategy and Finance.

  • The ability to work with and prep C-Suite leaders.

  • A growth mindset that isn't fazed if the path to success is unclear, you're comfortable working things out.

  • An inventive mindset with strong critical thinking skills.
