Mission Statement
You will own and lead contract and claims management across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring robust risk management, protection of commercial position, and maximization of revenue, margin, and cash outcomes across the project lifecycle. This role is critical to strengthening contract discipline, improving project profitability, and reducing risk exposure across the Local Service Unit portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.
How you’ll make an impact
- You will take the ownership of contract risk, margin protection, claims recovery, and commercial outcomes across assigned projects.
- You should identify, assess, and monetize variations early to maximize commercial value and protect project profitability.
- You will be responsible to improve cash flow performance through effective management of milestones, days sales outstanding, and payment security.
- You will lead consistent contract management governance across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring compliance with local laws and Hitachi Energy global policies.
- You will also be leading the commercial review, negotiation, and formation of customer contracts, identifying key risks and opportunities in technical and commercial terms.
- You will establish contract baselines and manage entitlements throughout the project lifecycle, from kick-off to closure.
- You will lead claims, disputes, and entitlement recovery strategies for variations, disruptions, and client-caused delays, while supporting legal escalation where required.
- You will strengthen contract management capability across project, sales, procurement, and commercial teams through mentoring, best practice sharing, and disciplined governance.
- You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
- Degree in Law, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in contract management or commercial roles.
- Strong commercial acumen and risk awareness.
- Experience in EPC, infrastructure, or energy projects (preferred).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and support team objectives.
- Proficient in English, with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
