Job Description

As a Corporate Counsel, you'll apply your strong legal expertise and understanding of our business to provide clear, practical advice that supports our purpose of protecting what matters most. Acting as a subject matter expert, you’ll work independently and collaboratively to navigate legal and regulatory complexities, contributing to a high-performing legal team. With a focus on partnership, you’ll build strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders to deliver effective, solutions-focused outcomes.

In This Role You Will:

  • Manage litigated matters in collaboration with external legal partners

  • Oversee external dispute resolution cases, including those with AFCA and similar bodies

  • Provide timely legal advice and support to claims, underwriting, and other business units

  • Deliver legal training to enhance capability within the claims and underwriting teams

  • Advise risk and compliance teams on obligations under the Life Insurance Code of Practice

  • Support the Internal Dispute Resolution team with legal guidance

  • Collaborate with other legal teams to review product documentation and related materials

Qualifications

  • Admitted to practise law with a minimum of 3 years PQE
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry is desired
  • Knowledge of insurance law
  • Relevant legal tertiary education
  • Collaborative and strong team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
