Job Summary

As the CoStar News Australia Editor, you will lead the development and delivery of commercial property news, providing the definitive source of curated market intelligence for the Australian commercial property industry. You will be a seasoned news journalist or editor with a deep understanding of the commercial real estate sector, responsible for building awareness of CoStar's unique datasets and leveraging industry knowledge to drive news coverage of the sector. By plugging into the CoStar Research + News engine, you will provide local data journalism and market insights that empower our audience to make informed investment and business decisions. Your role is critical in diversifying our content offering through commercial news, insights and trends, ensuring we serve the evolving needs of property owners, investors, and business leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Editorial workflows: Oversee the end-to-end production of high-quality commercial property news, including commissioning, writing and editing content that delivers national coverage of the commercial property market.

  • Editorial management: Review all incoming submissions for adherence to global style guidelines including consistency, tone, and brand standards before publication

  • Data and Analytics: Integrate the Research + News engine into daily editorial operations to deliver data-driven journalism and local market insights that address the decision-making needs of our audience.

  • Content planning: Plan and lead content roadmaps for CoStar News Australia in line with the content strategy, ensuring all output is optimised for search, social media, and lifecycle marketing channels.

  • Industry Networking: Proactively build and maintain a network of key industry contacts and sources to secure exclusive insights and drive a consistent pipeline of breaking commercial property news.

  • Audience building: Monitor audience metrics and perform data analysis to track the impact of content initiatives and adjust strategies accordingly.

  • AI-to-Human Workflow Optimisation: Coordinate with the Analytics and Research teams to ensure expanded coverage of the market across regional markets, including oversight of AI-assisted content generation.

About You

  • Extensive experience as a news journalist with a strong focus on commercial property.

  • Proven track record in commissioning and editing high-impact news content for digital platforms.

  • Deep understanding of the Australian commercial property market and current industry trends.

  • Expertise in digital content production, including SEO, AEO, and multi-format storytelling.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into engaging narratives.

Education and Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of editorial experience in large-scale media or news organisations.

  • Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency in: Newsroom operations, Editorial planning, Data journalism, SEO & AEO strategies, Reporting & Analytics and CMS platforms
