LEAP is the leading provider of Legal Practice Productivity Solutions in the world and is part of ATI – one of the largest international LegalTech companies. For more than 30 years, our curiosity and commitment to continual improvement has kept us reimagining productivity tools for lawyers and their staff to support our guiding purpose, to ‘Help lawyers who help people’. The market leading software we develop and support is used by more than 100,000 lawyers and their staff in small and medium sized law firms.

Working alongside our international team of passionate high achievers, you’ll join a fast-growing technology business where things seldom stay the same for long. With more than 1000 smart, caring and ambitious ‘LEAPsters’ working together across Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Poland and New Zealand, you’ll find yourself in good company here.

Meet the Criminal Law team

As a criminal lawyer you know how important it is to be at the top of your game, be the best lawyer you can be and stay ahead of your competition.

This is an opportunity for a criminal lawyer who feels passionately that these goals are possible through custom technology and AI. You will be an important member of a new "Criminal Law" vertical which LEAP have recently established, and contribute significantly to building custom products and services to help practitioners working in criminal law throughout Australia. As a collaborator with a passion for all things tech, or someone who constantly enjoys improvement and making things better, you'll join a team that includes Product Owners, Developers and Content Specialists to create criminal law specific products.

What you'll do

AI is the future and LEAP is at the forefront technically of applying AI to the legal industry. You will play a huge part in making this happen and driving change for the better (think automatic time recording, AI drafted affidavits and briefs to counsel!) You'll bring your experience and expertise in criminal law and your ability to understand our clients to focus on the needs of firms that practice criminal law. You'll report to the Manager of the Criminal Law vertical and help drive the direction and strategy this business unit takes. The products you help improve and design will see your colleagues in criminal law soar and put them ahead of every other lawyer out there.

To make this happen, you will:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the needs of criminal lawyers to provide ongoing feedback to members of content and development teams to help improve the core product for criminal lawyers and drive the development of criminal law specific solutions.
  • Ensure clients use LEAP Criminal Law in the best possible way - help them to help their clients in the most effective way possible.
  • Educate clients on LEAP Criminal Law nationally, including delivering demos and webinars, attending seminars, networking events, and relevant conferences. You will be the real legal expert behind the Criminal Law vertical.

What you'll bring

  • At least 2-4 years of recent experience practicing in criminal law.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and delivering meaningful change.
  • A strong understanding of or interest in AI technologies and their application within the legal sector.
  • Strong presentation skills – you can effectively present LEAP features to a group of people and have the ability to read the room.

You are the type of person who

  • Is professional and approachable, with high impact communication – you can clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas to individuals and groups in a variety of situations; communicating in a focused and compelling way that drives others’ thoughts and actions
  • Is a team player, one that understands that diverse opinions make a team and the benefit of achieving goals and decisions together.
  • Is confident in your ability, your skills in criminal law and can make decisions and stand behind them.
  • Is a self starter and thrive in an autonomous environment, taking initiative to drive results and meaningful impact.
  • Is curious - you're not afraid to ask questions and explore.  You're okay with making mistakes and trying again to get to where you want to go.

Why join LEAP?

  • Make an impact. You won’t be another ‘cog in the wheel’ here. We give full trust and autonomy for you to be heard, to work on big & complex projects – and to make a real difference.
  • Work with a group of authentic, passionate people who love what they do.
  • Well-funded and global. LEAP is the leading provider of Legal Practice Productivity Solutions across Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and New Zealand. We're part of ATI – one of the largest international LegalTech companies.

  • Grow your career with us. Our founder, Christian Beck, has been building LegalTech businesses for over 30 years. There are opportunities galore to expand your career based on where your interests lie.
