About the Role

Sime Industrial (SI) IT is seeking a skilled Cyber Analyst to join our team in Acacia Ridge, QLD on a permanent fulltime position. This role is a critical function within our cybersecurity operations, ensuring the protection of our Company's data assets from cyber threats.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Cybersecurity Team, SI IT, and various business units to uphold and enforce security standards and guidelines.

As a Tier 2 Security Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organisation’s digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager - Cybersecurity Operations  your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with Managed SOC analysts to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents.
  • Conducting in-depth analysis of security events, performing root cause analysis, and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Driving security operations automation (SOAR) to enhance incident response efficiency.
  • Implementing and maintaining technical security standards and guidelines.
  • Working closely with security engineers and IT teams to resolve vulnerabilities and improve security posture.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry security frameworks and standards, including ISO27001, NIST, and ACSC Essential 8.
  • Developing reports on security incidents, trends, and recommended improvements.
  • Participating in cybersecurity awareness initiatives and training across the organisation.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as GIAC, (ISC)², CEH, Google, AWS, or Azure Cloud Security Certifications.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity analysis, IT security best practices, and security solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of incident response methodologies, tools, and frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Expertise in security frameworks and standards such as ISO27001, NIST, ACSC Essential 8, and ISM.
  • Solid knowledge of technical architectures supporting modern IT implementations.
