Job Description

  • 3 days onsite - work from office
  • Fixed-term contract role of 12 months + possible extension to another 12 months

The Data Solutions Architect will be responsible for assisting Endeavour Group in transitioning Woolworths' data platforms and systems into the Endeavour Group, with a particular focus on Information Management and Analytics. This will involve migrating and optimizing data/analytics products, applications, and services from Woolworths. You will play a pivotal role in developing interim state architectures and data architecture for a large-scale data warehouse migration. Additionally, you will collaborate with SI partners to deliver the architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with the overall strategic vision and successful execution of the migration plan.

You will be responsible for designing end-to-end solutions for data migration initiatives, focusing on products and applications within the program’s scope. You will collaborate with SI partners, business leaders, engineering teams, and product stakeholders to assess system requirements and design tailored, fit-for-purpose solutions that meet the program’s objectives and ensure successful migration outcomes.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Be a key contributor to the Architecture peer group, collaborating with other Data Architects and Enterprise Architects (EA) to support Endeavour Group’s strategy and roadmap.

  • Design solutions for data warehouse migration initiatives and enhancements with a focus on simplicity, scalability, and seamless operational integration into the target environment.

  • Review, assess, and govern data warehouse solution designs to ensure conformance with architecture principles and best practices throughout the migration lifecycle, ensuring smooth transition and integration of data systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve architectural challenges related to data warehouse migration, addressing any technical or operational issues that may arise during the transition.

  • Act autonomously to manage and resolve issues or deviations from established data warehouse migration standards, ensuring alignment with project goals and architecture guidelines.

  • Collaborate with Data Governance, Cybersecurity, Platform teams, and Risk and Portfolio Offices to implement engagement processes, capturing and tracking issues identified during assessments, and ensuring they are properly documented in project and risk registers related to the migration.

  • Support the adoption of target-state architecture by executing the migration strategy for data warehouse platforms and systems, ensuring alignment with long-term enterprise goals.

  • Ensure alignment with architecture standards and principles during data warehouse migration, promoting consistency in solution decisions across the enterprise and ensuring integration with the target architectures.

  • Improve data warehouse performance through the development of enterprise-level solutions, enhancing application data security, access control designs, and overall system capabilities in the context of the migration.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant industry certifications (i.e. TOGAF)

  • Proven experience in a Senior Data Architect role, experience gained within large, complex data migration projects

  • Previous experience working within Retail is highly regarded

  • Experience or background in data/information management , Analytics, ML and/or data services solution

  • Strong business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills  

  • Understand and adhere to data governance policies and privacy regulations, ensuring consistent compliance.

  • Exceptional communication skills coupled with an ability to negotiate and influence 

  • Proven ability to consult and provide advice to internal stakeholders

  • Experience in the development of architectures and data models for complex systems (conceptual, logical and physical)

  • Solid understanding in database design, including conceptualisation to database optimisation

  • Knowledge of data migration and engineering patterns over on-premise source systems and cloud-hosted platforms

  • Excellent understanding of relational database technologies (SQL Server, Aurion, DB2, etc.) and cloud analytics (GCP, Azure, AWS,)

  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments, with knowledge of CI-CD tools

  • Direct experience with GCP and Azure Cloud 

  • Ability to think strategically and predict future opportunities

  • Solving challenging business questions, with the independence and freedom to find the best solution

  • An ability to think quickly and creatively to solve business challenges

  • Very strong stakeholder communications, ability to read a room and tailor the message
