Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Design Manager - Wind to join our team in Australia. This role will play a critical part in establishing and leading Arcadis’ onshore wind farm design capability, with a focus on delivering and coordinating Balance of Plant (BoP) design across civil, electrical and environmental disciplines.

The position is suited to an experienced design leader with a strong track record in Australian wind farm delivery, capable of leading multidisciplinary design teams, interfacing directly with clients and contractors, and embedding best-practice methodologies and tools for wind project delivery.

This is a delivery-focused role, supporting tender, ECI and detailed design phases, and improving Arcadis’ credibility as a lead design partner in the wind sector.

Role accountabilities:

• Lead design management of onshore wind farm projects, covering BoP scopes (civil, electrical and environmental integration)
• Act as the technical lead in tenders and ECI phases, developing design approaches, key quantities, assumptions and risk inputs
• Drive integrated design optimisation, coordinating layouts, access, earthworks, electrical reticulation and environmental constraints
• Provide technical leadership and assurance of design outputs across multidisciplinary teams
• Lead coordination between local teams and Arcadis Global Excellence Centres, ensuring efficient and compliant delivery
• Interface directly with developers, contractors and client teams, supporting workshops, design reviews and technical queries
• Translate prior experience into clear, credible design narratives that build client confidence in Arcadis’ delivery capability
• Establish and embed design methodologies, tools and workflows aligned with industry best practice for wind farm delivery
• Support constructability and cost optimisation, ensuring designs are practical, buildable and aligned to contractor expectations
• Contribute to resource planning and delivery strategy, including allocation of work between local and offshore teams
• Mentor internal teams and uplift capability in wind-specific design and design management

Qualification & Experience:

First and foremost, you share our passion for enabling the energy transition. You will bring:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
• Chartered status (CPEng / RPEQ) or equivalent
• Proven experience delivering onshore wind farm projects in Australia, particularly BoP design
• Strong track record in design management across multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, environmental)
• Demonstrated experience in ECI, tender design and early-stage project development
• Deep understanding of wind farm design components, including:
–            Site access and internal road networks
–            Crane hardstands and earthworks optimisation
–            Drainage and constructability considerations
–            Electrical reticulation interfaces
• Experience working with contractors and developers in design-and-construct or ECI environments
• Strong understanding of Australian standards, approvals pathways and delivery practices for wind projects
• Familiarity with relevant tools (e.g. GIS, 12D, Civil 3D or similar), with emphasis on design coordination and optimisation rather than detailed modelling
• Proven ability to lead client interactions and technical discussions, building trust and credibility
• Experience working with or managing distributed/global design teams
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability
