The Reserve Bank of Australia is hiring for a Senior Developer (Java) on a Fixed Term Contract arrangement. This role is within Information Technology, in a team supporting the Policy & Markets system of the RBA. In this position, you will report to Team Lead, IT Policy Systems and work with fellow developers, testers and business users in an Agile environment.

About the role

  • Be a developer within IT Policy Systems, supporting the Policy and Market systems.
  • Build and work on in-house Policy systems.
  • Work in a team with other Java developers in an Agile environment.

About you

  • Proficiency in Java SE, including object-oriented programming, data structures.
  • Experience with Java Enterprise Edition for building large-scale applications.
  • Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security.
  • Hibernate/JPA: Knowledge of ORM tools for database management.
  • Web Services: Proficiency in RESTful and SOAP web services.
  • Frontend Technologies: Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and
  • frameworks like Angular or React.
  • SQL: Experience with relational databases (e.g.,MSSQL 2019 , SSMS, etc)  
  • Database Design: Skills in designing and optimizing database schemas.
  • Version Control: Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
  • Build Tools: Experience with Maven or Gradle for project management and build automation.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile and Scrum practices.
  • Test-Driven Development (TDD): Writing unit tests using JUnit
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Good to have experience in building or deploying the code via Azure pipelines
  • Microservices Architecture: Designing and implementing microservices.
  • Design Patterns: Knowledge of common design patterns and best practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Cloud Platforms: Good to have experience with Azure Cloud Platform.
  • IDE Proficiency: Advanced skills in using IntelliJ IDEA for efficient software development i.e. for coding, debugging, and testing.
  • Security: Understanding of application security principles and practices.
