An Amazing opportunity for a DevOps manager to make the team their own, this role is suitable for those with a technical background and who are truly versed in the CI/CD aspect of orgnaistaional change. You will shape this team and help guide the future of DevOps at CoStar/Domain.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Product and Design on team roadmap and priorities
  • Execute and deliver on the roadmap in collaboration with Product and Data
  • Direct line management for all the engineers in the squad
  • Be an ambassador for the Engineering brand internally and externally
  • Build a deep understanding of their product and business domain
  • Participate in and contribute to cross-domain technology forums such as Architecture Guild and

Tech Leadership Guild

  • Collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to drive Solution Design for large initiatives Technical Excellence and Innovation
  • Champion and adopt Engineering best practices
  • Improve engineering efficiency for their respective team
  • Hands-on where necessary with a focus on initiatives that will help 10x the team
  • Performs code reviews where necessary
  • Accountable to the System Health and Tech debt backlog for their respectively owned service
  • Elevate and escalate to tech leaders where large investment in tech debt and tech initiatives is required

Project Management and Delivery

  • Drive work and epic breakdown for practical estimation, capacity planning and delivery
  • Manage and unblock technical dependencies with other teams where required
  • Accountable for reporting on delivery metrics for their respective team
  • Facilitate team ceremonies where necessary

Mentorship and Team Development

  • Mentor and coach DevOps engineers in progressive engineering practices
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical experience in the field.
  • Advanced cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud Professional\ DevOps Engineer).
  • Demonstrated continuous learning in cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and platform engineering.
  • Architectural Leadership: Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure solutions for high-traffic, mission-critical systems.
  • Performance Optimisation: Proven track record in optimising cloud resources, engineering processes, and DevOps practices to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Data-Driven Operations: Expertise in leveraging monitoring tools, analytics, and observability practices to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Multi-Cloud Proficiency: Extensive hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), emphasising cloud-native services and best practices.
  • DevOps Culture Champion: Skilled in fostering a DevOps culture, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and establishing robust CI/CD pipelines.
  • Agile Integration: Adept at seamlessly integrating Agile methodologies with DevOps practices to streamline development and deployment cycles.
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to mentor junior engineers, lead DevOps teams, and collaborate effectively across Product, Data, and Technology departments.
  • Platform Engineering: Significant experience in developing and maintaining internal developer platforms, enhancing team productivity and streamlining workflows.

Technical Skills

  • Programming Proficiency: Deep knowledge of DevOps-centric languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript) and both functional and object-oriented programming paradigms.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Mastery of IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CDK) and configuration management systems (e.g., Microsoft Desired State Engine).
  • Containerisation & Orchestration: Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and related cloud-native technologies.
  • CI/CD Mastery: Advanced knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices, including implementation of shift-left testing principles.
  • Database Management: Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including cloud-native database services.
  • Cloud Architecture Patterns: In-depth understanding of microservices, serverless computing, and event-driven architectures.
  • API & Integration: Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and asynchronous messaging systems.
  • Security Best Practices: Up-to-date knowledge of cloud security, OWASP guidelines, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Proficiency with monitoring tools, log management, and observability platforms (e.g., OpenTelemetrary, Prometheus, Elastic, ELK stack).
  • Developer Tools: Expertise in creating and maintaining developer portals, API gateways, and self-service platforms.
